Bow Mistress Trophy G3 FM OPEN ($150,000), 1200m 1:11.46 | |
Race Synopsis: The classy local mare Rebel Bride repelled all the
mainland challengers to score a strong win, her 10th in 20 starts.
Rebel Bride began well but was eased after being trapped wide.
She was three wide in sixth spot before getting a trail up from the
500m. She fanned wide on straightening and ran on determinedly
to win going away by half length. The Mick Price-trained Tariana
($2.90 fav) began well from her outside barrier (13), gradually
working across the field to lead at the 600m point. She got a nice
break after rounding the home turn but found the winner too good
in the closing stages to finish second. The David Hayes-trained
Rose Pattern had a good trip in fifth place before switching to
the rails shortly after straightening. She got through to second
at the 100m and fought on for a sound third, after having every
chance. The Anthony Freedman-trained Follonica began well and
challenged early before being eased to travel outside the leader
(Tariana). She was under pressure from the home turn and held
on fairly well to finish fourth, beaten 2.6 lengths. |
