<-proud owner of one of Avatar's great grand sons :) too bad my boy didn't place in his races...lol
Thanks for placing this on here, nice learning new things about my horse's pedigree and whos in it!!
Thanks CF. IMHO, 1975 had one of the deeper Triple Crown fields with Avatar, Diabolo, Master Derby and Foolish Pleasure all knocking heads. Avatar was my favorite of the 4 and glad he pulled through in the final test. Saw him win the Santa Anita Derby and he was such a beautiful chestnut. Went down to see him saddled before the race and he was radiant. He was tough as nails and one of my all-time faves.

Great by the legendary Bill Shoemaker. Am I right in think Dave Johnson gave the call?

Avatar was a great race horse . He also would have won the Kentucky had he not been"bumped" by Foolish Pleasure late in the race.
