| Race Synopsis: Guelph began well but was trapped wide from her outside barrier and was eased to settle about tenth, one off the rails. She improved wide rounding the home turn, moved up strongly to get to third at the 150m and proved too strong in the closing stages for a good win running the 1400m out well. Scandiva had a good run being fourth one out and one back. She challenged at the 200m and looked the winner when she took the lead at the 200m but could not hold off the late-closing winner. The Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Overreach began brilliantly
and led, setting a reasonable pace. She moved out a bit wide after turning for home and suddenly struggled from the 100m, tiring for third. She looks suspect at distances beyond 1200m. Drago was second last to the 600m, went wide on straightening, and ran on late for a sound fourth. So Man Up broke down badly at the top of the home straight and was taken to Randwick Equine Centre with a suspected pelvic injury. | |
