| Race Synopsis: Norzita travelled along comfortably in seventh place on the rails. She pushed out approaching the 600m and sprinted quickly to be in second place at the 400m. After a bit of a battle with the runner-up (Longport) she finished too strongly to win well and seems on target for the Australian Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) on Saturday week. Longport had yet another fight with Norzita again coming off second-best as she has on most occasions. She raced outside the leader (She’s A Girl), took the lead at the 300m and fought gamely to the post, being only beaten a long neck. Habibi was eighth one off the rails but seemed to be under a bit of pressure. She was forced very wide at the turn and kept running on quite well to take third, beaten about three lengths and may do better when stepped up to the 2400m of the Oaks. Gondokoro was about ninth on the rails, got a great run at the turn, going to third at the 300m before battling on for fourth just in front of Dear Demi who came from last at the 600m to finish fifth. | |
