Dr. Dermot Weld is considered a master trainer for a reason, so far be it from me to second guess his decisions. But watching the way Forgotten Rules faded in the final couple of furlongs of this race I can't help but wonder if this start might not have come too soon on the heels of his recent 2-1/2 mile run in the Ascot Gold Cup? Certainly didn't look anything like the same horse that won last year's British Champions Long Distance Cup or that most recently won the Vintage Crop Stakes to me.
