| Race Synopsis: In an exciting finish, the first ten horses finished within 2.8 lengths of the winner. Having her first run since seventh in the Doncaster Mile (Gr 1, 1600m) at Randwick on 6 April last year, Suavito was first away, from her inside barrier (1), before settling in seventh place on the rails. She got through to third at the 200m, grabbed the lead at the 50m and fought back for a very good first-up win. Lucky Hussler was ridden quietly and settled beyond midfield, about 12th, between runners. He was still held up on turning for home, finally got a split at the 100m and came with a late run to take second, looking unlucky. Hucklebuck was eased from barrier 18 and settled near last. He improved between runners from the 600m, switched deep on straightening and then put in a strong run and finished very well for a really good third. Turn Me Loose worked in the early stages to find the lead and then travelled strongly in front. He held a clear break at the 300m, was only headed on passing the 50m and then held on for a good first-up (1.3 lengths) fourth. Rebel Dane had a good trip in fifth place, between runners, looked a threat at the 100m and then battled on for (1.4 lengths) fifth. Boban settled beyond midfield, wide with cover, and was still well back as he rounding the home turn. He went deep from the 200m and ran on, late for (2.2 lengths) a good first-up sixth. | |
