James Boag's Railway Stakes G1 3U OPEN ($1,015,400), 1600m 1:36.13
Race Synopsis: Progressive four-year-old Scales Of Justice advanced from winning his first Group race in taking out the R J Peters Stakes (Gr 3, 1500m) at this track last week to scoring an impressive Group One victory here. He showed good early pace to lead, ran along at quite a good tempo (first 1000m in 60.59), grabbed a good break on straightening and was not threatened from that point to win easily. Good Project, winner of this race last year, began well and had a good trip in fourth place (out one and one back). He got into clear running at the home turn went to second at the 200m and battled on well to hold that position, without troubling the winner. The favourite Perfect Reflection settled in eighth place, between runners, put in a wide move rounding the home turn and continued to run on well for a very good third. Mackintosh was quickly away, settled outside the leader and eventual winner, and kept fighting on well in the straight for (3.8 lengths) fourth in an honest effort. Tradesman raced in tenth place, between runners, to the home turn and kept fighting on nicely for (4 lengths) fifth while the top weight (58.5kg) Kawi was eighth on the rails, got through to fifth on straightening and then held on well for (4.3 lengths) sixth.
