| Race Synopsis: Winx's winning streak looked in danger but the champion staged yet another amazing performance in claiming victory, her 28th successive win and her 21st at Group 1 level. She settled back second last place in the ten-horse field and was conceding the leaders about ten lengths at the 600m. Hugh Bowman managed to ease her into clear running coming to the 200m and she then finished brilliantly, hit the front at the 50m and went on to score by a length, clocking a sensational 32.21 for her final 600m. Last season's Queensland Oaks (Gr 1, 2200m) winner Youngstar, settled in fifth place, one off the rails, moved up well from the 300m and fought on very well for second in an excellent pointer to the Caulfield Cup (Gr 1, 2400m) at her third run this preparation. Kings Will Dream raced back in fourth place on the rails, got through on the inner on straightening, hit the front at the 200m and then battled on really well for third in another good lead-up to the Caulfield Cup. Ventura Storm raced in seventh place on the rails, got through to a handy fourth at the 300m and kept battling on nicely to hold that position, beaten 1.9 lengths in a very sound run at his third run back. Trap For Fools went to the front as usual, set quite a reasonable pace, was only overtaken at the 200m to finish (2 lengths) fifth in another very honest performance. | |
