| Race Synopsis: Having her third start since transferring to the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable, the well-performed mare Keneda broke though for her first Group 1 victory here. She raced in tenth place, before improving (under riding by John Allen) rounding the home turn. She then rallied strongly in the closing stages, coming with a late burst to grab victory. Dixie Blossoms settled well back in about 15th place in the large field, fanned deep on turning for home, sprinted well in the centre of the track, coming with a late bid for (half neck) second. Unforgotten settled near the tail of the 19-horse field from barrier 17, went very deep from the 200m and then ran on strongly for a close-up third. Grahame Begg-trained mare Miss Siska was handily placed on the rails from her good barrier (2) before getting along the inner to take a clear lead at the 200m. She then battled gamely for (0.4 lengths) fourth. Spanish Reef made good late ground for (1.2 lengths) fifth, while the favourite Alizee had a nice trip in sixth place, challenged at the 200m and then battled on for (1.3 lengths) sixth. | |
