| Race Synopsis: Booker staged a very good first-up performance in taking out her first Group 1 victory here, her fourth win with five placings in 15 starts. She settled midfield from her wide barrier (14), tracking a fast place, improved between runners at the home turn, dashed to the front nearing the 100m and then went on to win well and in quick time. Encryption was back in 12th place, improved (wide with cover) rounding the home turn, put in a good run from the 200m and continued to finish well to take second. Eduardo showed his usual pace and crossed from his wide barrier (17) to race in third place (but three wide). He challenged strongly at the 200m and then battled gamely for third in a very good firstup performance. Bons Away raced in ninth place, improved (wide with cover) from the 300m, challenged at the 200m and then held on well for a good fourth, beaten just under two lengths. Spright made late ground from the tail of the field for (2.1 lengths) fifth, resuming here, while the favourite Nature Strip set a hectic tempo and led the field until nearing the 100m before weakening to finish (4.4 lengths) tenth. | |
