Stradbroke Hcp G1 3U OPEN ($1,500,000), 1400m 1:21.86 | |
Race Synopsis: Consistent Godolphin-raced four-year-old Trekking took his record to eight wins (five placings) from 20 starts in breaking through with an impressive Group 1 success here. He settled nicely under Kerrin McEvoy in tenth place, one off the rails, behind a quick tempo (first 800m 46.72). He fanned deep at the home turn, sprinted quickly, hit the front at the 200m and then drew clear to win well and in quick time (1:21.86). Tyzone raced in 12th place, tracking the eventual winner. He went wide from the 300m and then kept running on well for second. Endless Drama had a nice trip in eighth place, one off the rails, improved nicely on turning for home, challenged at the 200m and then battled on well to take the minor placing. Spright was again ridden patiently and raced near last in the 17-horse field before finishing on well over the latter stages for (3.4 lengths) fourth while Tom Melbourne was last to the home turn and then made good ground in the straight for (3.5 lengths) fifth. |
