    I wouldn't argue with that at all in the modern era of racing today. But Secretariat was never given Lasix or the like during his racing days. It was just that big 13lb. heart he had that was a 1/3rd bigger than the average heart of 9lbs. He simply had a bigger motor.

    European horses run clean, with American horses you never know if they are wonderhorses or is it the drugs making them go faster

    I agree with Lydia Hislop that horses like Brigadier Gerard, Sea Bird, Mill Reef, and a couple of others have overall more impressive careers than Secretariat had in America. But there's no horse ever in the history of sport, to include the best that Europe has ever had or the best that America has ever had that would've gotten to within 10 lengths of Secretariat that day in the 1973 Belmont Stakes. On that day, God was the jockey and held the reigns. Never been a stronger singular performance.
