For my money, this might have been the best race all day at Belmont. A thrilling stretch run with some quality fillies really knocking heads all the way to the wire. She came up a little short in this race, but I would think Todd Pletcher had to be really pleased with Princess of Sylmar in this race to be her 1st G1 start since her disappointing BC Distaff run in November. I'd never really payed that close of attention to her stride until this race but Princess of Sylmar has a really long stride for a filly. She's kind of a female version of Will Take Charge IMO in that they both eat up the ground with their stride once they get rolling. Very game & gutsy effort by the winner Close Hatches to win the Ogden Phipps. There's not a lot of fillies currently racing in America that could've held off that late closing charge by Princess of Sylmar the way Close Hatches did, IMO.
