You couldn't get me to touch 3-2 on Moonlight Cloud in this race. As a
matter of fact, I predict Moonlight Cloud will flop in the Hong Kong Mile
much like she did last season at Santa Anita in the Breeders Cup Mile and
not even make the frame. I disagree with Freddie Head that a mile is her
best trip now. I think she's still much better over distances of 6-1/2f(G1
Prix Maurice de Gheest) or 7f(G1 Prix de la Foret). Outside of France her
form lines aren't that strong save her 2nd behind Black Caviar in the
Diamond Jubilee Stakes at 6f, and her fast ground form is almost
non-existent. I think the fast going at Sha Tin will be a much bigger bonus
for Sky Lantern than Moonlight Cloud, as most of Sky Lantern's best form in
Europe came on fast ground. All that being said, given the strength of his
form at Sha Tin over the past 4 or 5 months, I still believe Gold-Fun is
gonna take a world of beating in the Mile, and if you're looking for an
each/way long shot at big odds I'd say Helene Spirit is a pretty good bet.
