on my soap box now, but the Futurity was designed to find Derby horses and that was why it was run on the round mile. It taught horses something new. I genuinely think the race has lost something since it's now 8 furlongs straight, as well as not being such a spectacle. Oh well.

I believe that the winner went on to win the Derby the following year, 1987.
