good question. It was an odd race, if memory serves (which sometimes it doesn't) - four runners, Milligram won it from the front after sprinting from the turn. Miesque loved a scrap, so would be better in a big field. But every great horse gets beaten - just depends on the running of the race, it doesn't tarnish their reputation any. And Milligram was pretty good.
I do have that race but i stopped tape after winning post and it rewound slightly so now my video cuts out just short of line DAMB!!!!! what a performance that was by Indian Skimmer for me the best of her carear.
Totally agree it so annoys me when you see a bunch of runners with a ferlong to run and CH4 focus on leader only and as an after thought to swich camera angles close home and include closers its so annoying.
has anyone got the french oaks were indian skimmer beat miesque after Cecils pacemaker, i think it was laluche (unbeaten over 6 furlongs) had set off at sprint pace and indian skimmer powered away with 3 furlongs left?
Miesque came with a fantastic run and even back in 1987 - Channel 4 producers f**k up a great finish by going for a close up - just at the exact time - which prevents armchair fans from seeing the full effort from Miesque.
Fast forward, 24 years and CH4 still have not learnt and are still delivering a pile of rubbish for the armchair fan !
I was convinced Minstrella would win this after her top class juvinile campaign when despite still looking weak. Boy was i wrong Minstrella's nemasis the diminative Forrest Flower trained on to a degree but Minstrella didtnt train on at all . Minstrella proved for me almost a bigger flop then Pasty had done in the mid 70s as a 3yo after a hugely promissing juvinile.

She was a great little filly was Forest Flower. I remember cheering her on in the Irish guineas. Sadly she was put to sleep earlier this year at 27.

I had Milligram (in my younger days I would back Michael Stoute fillies almost blind) but Miesque was so much better that day.
