haha, yes that's why i'm saying riding with bad brakes is not good at all. i pressed the levers by mistake with the disc out a few times and pushed them back in, that might also be a problem

Ive owned two bikes with avid elixirs. They are probably the most user freindly brakes. I accidentally squeezed the brake lever when the pads were out and it didnt even affect them at all. They actually and literally saved me from falling down a cliff.

actually i don't have the coin for either. i'm stuck with these and i hope i can still fix 'em. i tend to like avid brakes more, altho i don't have a huge experience with any of them. just that when they came new, the Code5's where awesome.

Shimano Saints seem to be really good

Ya thats for sure. You should replace them with some avid elixirs.

there's a little less resistance than it had at first. I think I bled them right, but after a very short while it began losing power, and i cleaned the discs with everything i could, it's not like they used to, not anymore. no brakes at downhill means no courage, means no fun and no good times...

Is there still resistance when you pull the break lever? If there is its most likely debris on the rotor or pad. Make sure that there is resistance on the brake lever first. Pull the lever like you would if you were going to lock your wheel up. If it mantains pressure and the brake lever doesnt go down towards the handlebars when compresses then its not the piston.

I don't know. it might also be loss of pad-disc friction, only thing i can say is my cousin's Hayes MX's are way better at stopping than my Code5/Stroker Ace brakes :| it's weird.

Cool. Is it loss of pressure on the brakes?

some of my friends wouldn't really agree on the looks. it rides sweet, altho it feels just a bit lazy/heavy, good small bump compliancy yet still good for droppin' of things and bombing fast trails. I need to figure out what happened with the brakes, because they don't stop me as they should anymore. The only real problem is the Travis fork that will need to be replaced soon. I would've loved a white Totem on it
