| Race Synopsis: Platelet was smartly away but was eased and settled about seventh one off the rails. She switched three wide with cover nearing the home turn and straightened in the centre of the track, about five lengths from the leaders. The ever-so-honest mare then produced a great turn of foot to grab a very good half length win, her second Group One in a fortnight. The outsider Conservatorium raced outside the leader (Altar) to the turn, challenged strongly at the 200m and then battled on very well for a good second, beaten half-length. Altar began well from his wide barrier (13) and led the field to the final 200m and fought back well for a good third, beaten three-quarters length. Another outsider Karacatis was past midfield on the rails to the turn. He stuck to the rails and got a nice inside run from the 200m before fighting on for a good fourth, beaten only a length. The favourite Moment Of Change ($2.15) was about seventh on the rails most of the way to the turn. Luke Nolen switched him across heels at the 300m and had him into clear running from the 200m point. But he was a little disappointing from there, just battling on to take (1.2 lengths) fifth. Other well fancied runners, Yosei ($8) finished (three lengths) tenth after being near last on the rails before being blocked most of the way in the straight and Facile Tigre ($6) finished (3.7 lengths) fifteenth after being midfield and pulling in stages due to a moderate early tempo. | |
