Hey BJ, I do not know if "grabbing a quarter" is going to get covered yet. But yeah, it's when a horse's hind foot catches the heel of the front foot which can be a bad injury. The ball of their heel above the hoof is soft and catching that with a rear hoof with a toe grab on the shoe can cause a nasty gouge. Grabbing a quarter happens often when horses come out of the gate and they just miss with their footing. Hope this helps and I am not always perfectly right ;)

No no no no no no no...thank you! I've got a suggestion for one, if you weren't already going to cover it regarding injuries is: grabbing a quarter. I kinda know what it is, but I had always thought it was a really fast horse running first at the quarter mile mark. Only recently did I find out it was a hoof injury.

I always wondered, what was a bar shoe? I thought they were my fancy sneakers i put on when I go get drunk, so I wondered, were these horses going out after work? Perhaps I may join them. But now I know they most likely have heel issues. I usually stayed clear of horses with bar shoes, but now I have an actual reason and can back it up with some general knowledge! Thanks Frank! I really enjoy the series! Keep up the great work! Exclamation points!!!!!!
