| Race Synopsis: Redzel took his record to nine wins from 19 starts (with five placings) with another very good effort in winning here. He showed his customary pace, but Hugh Bowman elected to settle him outside the leader (Ball Of Muscle) before dashing him clear at the 200m. He then went on to score impressively and in quick time. Ball Of Muscle was quickly away and led until the 200m, and then held on well for a good second in a smart first up performance. John Thompson-trained mare Nieta had a good trip in fourth place on the rails, got through to third at the 150m and fought well to hold that position, putting up a good effort against this quality field. English raced in third place, but caught three wide without cover. She then kept fighting on well in the straight after a difficult trip for (1.8 lengths) fourth in a sound first up run, while multiple Group One winning sprinter Chautauqua, who was last to the 200m, caught the eye in making late ground for seventh, beaten just over two lengths in a very good first up effort, losing no admirers for the upcoming The Everest (1200m). | |
