Ruffian only made one start out of New York, the one that preceded this. It had been her toughest effort to date, as Hot n Nasty went at her in the G1 Sorority at Monmouth. She followed it up with her most impressive effort yet. The "wonder filly," as the New York Times called her after the race, set yet another stakes record in a "magnificent performance."
