Scintillating - Winter becomes the first filly trained by the all-conquering Aidan O'Brien to win both the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Irish 1000 Guineas in the same season with a stunning victory in the Group 1 Classic for fillies at the Curragh.

GBeret83, read comment on Churchill, St James Palace stakes was flop for him, I backed 'Barney Roy' (£500 @ 5/2), stuck the winnings on Highland Reel, I don't think C/hill will be stepped up in trip to be honest, I'm having good Ascot, backed Thomas Hobson and Qemah wins and Big Orange e/w, I'm £9,500 in profit since Dec (decent bets on thistlecrack and native river over Xmas, had 6 out of 7 winning bets at Cheltenham, selective betting is the way to go, hope you doing ok on the nags.....

I heard a gentleman this morning on the Racing Post pod-cast make an interesting comment/prediction that until now I'll admit I hadn't really considered. My thought has always been that after Royal-Ascot, and assuming he comes out of the G1 St James's Palace Stakes having ran well and in good order that Churchill's next likely port of call beyond that would be the G1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. But the gentleman today(who's name I didn't catch but wish I had) on the Racing Post pod-cast seemed almost confident in saying he believes that Aidan O'Brien will send the filly Winter to Goodwood for the Sussex Stakes and instead embark on a similar path with Churchill taken by Giant's Causeway back in 2000 which would involve his going up in trip to 2000/2100m for the G1 Coral-Eclipse, G1 Juddmonte International, & G1 Irish Champion Stakes. Whether or not that will actually happen, I don't know, but in theory it's very interesting, IMO.
