| Race Synopsis: Irish-bred gelding Foundry staged a good staying effort in winning, his third win and his first at Group One level in 16 starts. He travelled well in fourth place (one out and one back), moved up well nearing the home turn, responded to riding to take the lead at the 100m and then fought back to win nicely under his light weight (50.5kg). It was also a good ride by Michael Dee. Big Duke raced in seventh place (on the rails) before getting along the inner on turning for home. He challenged at the 100m and then fought on well for second. Chocante tracked the leader (Broadside), got to the front at the 200m and then held on to take the minor placing after seeming to have had every chance. Who Shot Thebarman was a handy third on the rails and he kept battling on in the straight for (2.6 lengths) fourth while Broadside led the field until reaching the 200m and fought on for (3 lengths) fifth after running a bold race. | |
