| Race Synopsis: Unforgotten followed her impressive Phar Lap Stakes (Gr 2, 1500m) win and late-closing second in the Vinery Stud Stakes (registered as Storm Queen Stakes) (Gr 1, 2000m) with an impressive victory in this renowned Group One feature. She was settled in a good spot by Hugh Bowman, racing seventh on the rails before improving from the 600m. She put in a strong run on straightening, went to second at the 200m and finished too well to score a very good win. Hiyaam again went to the front, picked up the pace from the 1200m, turned for home with a clear break and fought gamely for a very good second. Her Mick Price-trained stablemate Miss Admiration raced last place in the 13-horse field, improved nearing the home turn, got along the rails from the 300m and battled on really well for third in a promising performance in this class. Bring Me Roses raced back in eighth place, went deep rounding the home turn and kept running on well for (4.4 lengths) fourth. The NZ Oaks (Gr 1, 2400m) winner Savvy Coup travelled well back in fifth place, got along the inner at the home turn and kept fighting on for (5.7 lengths) fifth. Aloisia made ground for 6.9 lengths) seventh after being well back, while Luvaluva was also back in the field (trapped wide) for a long way before finishing (15.8 lengths) 11th. | |
