R5 FLEMINGTON17 March 2018
Blamey Stakes G2 3U OPEN ($202,000), 1600m 1:36.84
Race Synopsis: Humidor settled two and a half lengths last in the small field of five runners approaching the 1200m. Around the big Flemington bend rider Mark Zahra had nothing to panic about in the moderately run race, keeping them in view into the straight despite being last at the 400m. Zahra asked the question at the 250m and the gelding slid up to form a line of four at the 100m then thrust his neck out just short of the line to score by a half length. Cool Chap saved ground all the way into the straight but did not get a run until the 150m, driving through and leading briefly but could not hold out the winner. Hellova Street led into the straight, still led narrowly at the 200m but was collared inside the 100m yet kept on well for third.
