Coolmore Legacy Queen Of Turf G1 3UFM OPEN ($1,114,500), 1600m 1:34.94 | |
Race Synopsis: Godolphin-raced filly Alizee returned to her best form in taking out her second Group One victory here - both being recorded over 1600m at this track. Glyn Schofield rode her patiently and settled her near the rear of the 17-horse field, behind a good tempo. She improved (between runners) rounding the home turn, switched deeper and into clear running at the 300m and she then produced a strong sprint to hit the front at the 100m before drawing away to win by two lengths. Prompt Response had a good trip in third place on the rails, got through on the inner to take the lead shortly after turning for home but she had no answer for the late-closing filly over the latter stages to finish a good second after staging a very sound effort. Heavens Above settled in 11th place, gradually got between runners halfway down the straight and came with a late run to take third from Oregon's Day who ran on nicely from ninth at the home turn for (2.6 lengths) fourth. |
