| Race Synopsis: Warning, who broke through for his maiden win by taking the Super Impose Stakes (Listed, 1800m) at this track on October 5 on his fifth start, stepped up further in distance and class to record an impressive win in this Group 1 feature. He surprised early on by being more handily placed and then settled well for Damien Oliver, racing in fourth (one out and one back), behind a moderate pace. He moved up rounding the home turn, raced clear at the 300m and then went on to score decisively in a strong staying effort. Southern Moon raced in seventh place, one off the rails, improved (deep) at the home turn, went to third at the 200m and kept running on solidly to take second. Soul Power had a nice trip in fifth place, on the rails. He then got into clear running nearing the home turn, got to second at the 200m and then kept fighting on for third. Relucent was handy most of the way and held on for (9 length) fourth while the favourite Shadow Hero settled back in 11th place, moved up deep from the 600m but only plugged on from there for (10 lengths) fifth. | |
