R8 RANDWICK19 April 2014
Longines Queen Elizabeth Stks G1 3U OPEN ($4,069,750), 2000m 2:03.72
Race Synopsis: It’s A Dundeel put up another impressive effort in recording his sixth Group One race win. He began smartly from his inside barrier (1), and then eased to race in third place. He sat back several lengths as the tempo increased on passing the 1200m and went to second coming to the turn. He set out after the leader Carlton House on straightening, took the lead at the 100m and then fought back gamely for a strong win, scoring by three quarters of a length. Sacred Falls was last in the early stages, improved to tenth on the rails at the 800m but was still giving the leader about ten lengths nearing the home turn. He then put in a good run from the 300m, making up considerable ground for an impressive second. Carlton House went to the lead and then ran along at strong tempo from the 1200m point. He still held a clear lead nearing the home turn and only wilted from the 100m to finish a good third, beaten three and three quarter lengths, after working most of the way. Silent Achiever was back in fourth place to the 600m, was under riding on straightening and kept battling on to take (4.8 lengths) fourth, after seeming to have every chance. Royal Descent was back in eleventh place to the 600m, fanned wide at the turn and made ground, without threatening, for a sound (6.9 lengths) fifth.

DUCSDREAM we were taliking about Carlton House. I thought he went enormous in this race. I'm still not sure about the time. When the horses pass the post the time on the semaphore board reads 1:59.33... If correct that is an astonishing time which knocks ahalf second off the previous 2000m Randwick record set on good going. On the going for the QE was a slow 8. On the basis off that, Carlton House, would hold his own in a G1 over 2000m anywhere in the world.

Not sure why you would let C.House do all the donkey work on that ground.Having said that he appears to be a bit braver down under than he did over here.If I was lucky enough to own him I would see if a suitable race ie distance/ground/money was coming up and if not wait till next season.DefinItely not a return to Europe as I feel a severe spanking would be received!!
