Songbird makes her 4-year-old debut a winning one in the Ogden Phipps Stakes at Belmont Park on July 10, 2017. The filly earned a guaranteed berth in the 2017 Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff at Del Mar with her victory.

Nothing against Songbird, but can you people imagine the beating that an in-form Lady's Secret, Bayakoa, Dance Smartly, Paseana, Inside Information, Azeri, Zenyatta or even Blind Luck would inflict on her? And even at a shorter sprint distance an in-form Xtra Heat, Indian Blessing or Groupie Doll would smoke her, as well.

Nice to see greatness running on this Belmont race card of mediocrity. I know Smith didn't push her until the very end but the runner-up ran a game race as well.
