| Race Synopsis: Tiger Tees made it 11 wins from 24 starts in taking out his first Group One event. He began quickly from his good barrier (4) and settled in third place. He moved up shortly after turning for home, took the lead at the 200m and fought back particularly well for score a gutsy long head win. The three-year-old filly Anatina was fourth, one off the rails, switched out at the 300m, challenged at the 200m and then fought well for a close
second, putting up an impressive effort in stepping up to weight-for-age class. The other filly in the event Villa Verde went back from her wide barrier (13), was well back in second last place to the 300m. She looked for a run in the centre on turning for home, got a split at the 200m and made good ground to finish third. It was a smart effort, her wide draw proving costly. Sessions was midfield to the 600m, he moved up wide at the home turn, got to third at the 100m and fought on for a sound fourth. Three-year-old colt Whittington was sixth on the rails, put in a run on the inside at the 200m and fought on to take fifth, beaten just over three
lengths. Rain Affair surprisingly missed the start, was second last early on, before making a quick run to race outside the leader (Kencella). After working hard early, he tired from the 300m to finish just over five lengths tenth. | |
