Vandeek cost 625,000 guineas and went a very small way to repaying that hefty sum when making a taking debut at Nottingham in an extended six-furlong maiden.
The son of Havana Grey got upset in the stalls before the race and missed the break, coming out several lengths behind the rest of the field.
However, he made steady headway throughout the contest and took the lead entering the furlong pole, ultimately coming home clear by three-quarters of a length to justify Even-money favouritism for Simon and Ed Crisford.
The performance also impressed jockey Andrea Atzeni.
