Had a couple of quid EW on her this day, thought she could definitely get a place,because she liked a bit of cut in the ground but couldn't believe it when she went further and further away the last couple of furlong's, fav blatantly didn't stay.
I was 18 when I backed this horse. backed it as was about the only horse in the race that had done the distance. I just recall I was in disbelief at winning. The bookies went quiet for a few secs then I could hear all the loosing betting slips hitting the floor... My biggest ever winner.
i agree this is where she lost the winning thread, and perhaps she would have beaten kooyonga again, had she not run in this. she certainly had a hard race here. she did herself credit by running consistently well afterwards, albeit without winning, but she was taking on the colts in most of those races, second set and selkirk, and repeated her royal ascot form in the QE II when again 1 place behind kooyonga.
Yes but she was never quite the same for me she had just lost that edge she had shown earlier in her carear. It was very obvious in the Coronation she just couldn't quicken in the same way she had done in the Guineas and Fred Darling but all her efforts in defeat were still high class performances.
shaddayidd looked all set to win 3 furlongs out.
she stayed 10f but not 11.
admittedly she didnt win again shadayid, but she did run some great races in defeat , and contributed to the overall excitement of the race by being ernestly involved in a stirring finish in the coronation stakes,
sussex stakes and the QE II stakes.
jet ski lady never won again but ran well and was beaten in narrow finishes to the irish oaks and yorkshire oaks by magificent star who also ran here. vivid video.
