His marriage suffered as a consequence, he said. Re Fred Winter's thoughts - it's always easy to imagine that potential translates into brilliance, however, so we'll never know how good he could have been. Fred Winter is on record as saying Killiney was the best horse he ever trained high praise indeed from a man who trained the likes of champions Lanzarotte Bula and Pendil amonst numerous other top class performers. Such a shame that Killiney was killed at Ascot before he had a chance to prove his trainers faith. The footage shown is the 1971 Players no6 Novice Hurdle Final and the Scilly Isles Nov Chase.
