Growing up Kaylin Whitney was just a kid who excelled at sports and loved every minute of it. Whether it was on a football field or a track, it didn’t really matter; she could just play. As the sprinter grew older, she realized that society wanted her to be a specific person, one that she just wasn’t. Kaylin came privately and publicly to terms with her sexuality, and although it sat at odds with who she was “supposed to be” she understood that after all those years, sports is what gave her the confidence to be who she is, to love how she wanted to love. After all, she could just play.
