A turning point in that game was the referee penalising the Waratahs and not doing the same to the Highlanders. Take nothing away from the Highlanders winning the game however it is very disappointing and hard to accept when you feel that a referee possibly also played a role in not being neutral. Momentum is such an important factor in games and Highlanders definitely were winning that contest but when you feel a Ref makes a call that stops one teams contest for momentum and not long after that doesn't make the same call that allows another teams momentum to continue you can't help but feel hard done by... I did want the Tahs to win... Wellington definitely were the better side against ACT. Otago on the night definitely proved the better team as far as the contest for Momentum was concerned. But am I the only one that feels the referee wasn't fair ?
As a Tahs fan I am of course disappointed that we lost. Having said that, it's pretty clear to me that the Highlanders were another level or so with skill and smarts. So the loss, while never a good thing, was the right result tonight. Proud of the Tahs though. Many thanks to Coach Michael Cheika for his efforts over 3 years, turning the team into something that all of us can be justifiably proud of.
