The diversity of New York City is what makes it such a special place. With many different countries, religions and backgrounds, it’s natural that sports and games born overseas make their way to our streets and avenues. Episode 1 of URBAN RECREATION dives into Vitilla, a form of baseball played with a plastic bottle cap and broomstick that started in the 70s. The stick ball game, popular in the Dominican Republic and played by many of today’s professional stars, takes over streets, alleys and ball fields across the city and provides a strong sense of home to a growing Latin community.
