I had the race he broke down in playing on my TV but wasn't really watching it, and didn't find out until the next day. I was shocked...It was so sudden. The only race I ever saw hin finish was when he lost to Curlin.

At least we can say he beat a 3 time G1 winner in Funny Cide, no matter at what point FC was in his career.

Very tragic end to a wonderful horse. His fragile legs may have gave out but his heart never did. Rest in Peace Wanderin Boy, you'll be missed. Thanks for posting the race.

Yes, terribly sad that Wanderin' Boy broke down; it broke my heart. The thing that hits me especially hard is that it was to be his last race. I'm happy he's not in pain anymore, at the very least, but it only dulls the sadness a little. Thanks for the comments, everyone.

I'm sure you heard about Wanderin' Boy right?
I'm devastated. I haven't known of him long, but I was completely amazed by his story, it's a shame he had to leave the way he did.
Again, thanks for putting this up and outing his story.

Good point; his story really shows how special a horse Wanderin Boy is. Hopefully, more people will find out about him now when reading Steve Haskin's fantastic blog and/or watching this video. I think people will be illuminated after reading about him. His heart and running style show his class and also the class of Nick Zito for trying him time and time again against the best. Zito had, and likely still has faith that WB will win a G1 race. I really hope he does, provided he's not retired.
