| Race Synopsis: Danesiri put up good effort to win. She travelled nicely in seventh place (wide with cover) following a good tempo. She moved up, very wide out, rounding the home turn, put in a strong run to hit the lead at the 100m and then drew clear to score by almost a length. The favourite Cosmic Endeavour was a handy fifth, between runners, got a split rounding the home turn, challenged at the 100m and then fought gamely for (0.8 lengths) second, putting up a good performance especially considering she conceded the winner 5kgs. Mahara was beyond midfield (wide with cover), switched very wide on straightening and ran on well to take third. Solicit shared the lead (on the rails) to the 200m and fought on quite well for (2.4 lengths) fourth at her first run for new trainer Gerald Ryan. Dear Demi was a handy sixth between runners, moved up (wide out) at the home turn and battled on nicely for a sound (2.9 lengths) first-up fifth. The Queensland mare Tinto caught the eye running on from last in the 16-horse field at the home turn to finish (3.4 lengths) sixth. Arabian Gold was midfield to the home turn but only plugged on in the straight for eighth, beaten four lengths, at her first run since October. | |
