"he picked up a lot of lower order wickets" Your top order counterparts will thank you for putting a target on your back. You'd think an african would know it foolish to pull a lion's tail.

heard a lot of excuses; player niggles, illness, erratic bounce. he did say "we need to man up and take responsibility", but what plans can u make. 1) Evade short bowling and wait for them to zero in without risk of runs. or 2) Be pro-active, and knick of to any seem movement. for once i dont envy Smith.

Graeme Smith always makes wild assurances that SA will beat this team 3-0 and beat that team 5-0, and he made his decision to retire from cricket but he is still there!

That mental scarring response proves why Smith is one of the best captains in Test cricket. He knows he lost, but seriously a loss is just a loss, not something that just suddenly causes the entire team to collapse in on itself. It happened to England only because there were previous cracks. Smith isn't Cook and controls his team to look beyond this and the media trap they're trying to get him with.
