As I predicted the night before the Belmont Stakes (see below), California
Chrome lost. My betting pick was Tonalist, the actual winner. Although my
second pick finished mid-pack. It amazed me how emotions led many to pick
a horse with a terrible sub 1-1 payout. Implying nearly 70% chance of
winning despite 10 other horses against him! Tack on Chrome's less rested
jockey who opted to do Letterman, throw out the baseball at Yankee stadium
and countless interviews the couple days before the race instead of focus
and rest. Tonalist dominated the recent Peter Pan and had a jockey with a
great record at Belmont. Unlike Chrome's jockey who had won only 2 of his
67 Belmont races and never perfected that track distance. Do you homework
and do not let emotions drive you!
