In a controversial 2014 Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial Stakes, Dermot Weld's Fascinating Rock was awarded the race in the Stewards' room after Ebanoran was judged to have interfered with him close home.
Think I've just seen the Derby winner. The disqualified horse, I forget the
name.
He was fighting the jockey the whole way around the 1m 2f course.
Throw in the fact the jockey stepped on the gas far too early yet he still
held on.
The disqualified horses potential scares me, what a blistering turn of foot.
How can I possibly back Australia after watching this?
The owner & trainer better find the correct jockey, the horse is a monster.
Joseph rode his horse as if he thought he was on Camelot or Frankel but
this is becoming a regular thing for him because he is believing the
Coolmore hype and thinking he is on a world beater every time he wears
their colours. This horse takes a while to quicken like Ruler of The World
but you can see that when he does he does it well. I am certain that with
a decent ride he would have won this with a bit in hand but I don't think
he will be winning the Derby and neither of the 2 who beat him will either.
I think Ryan Moore has a better chance if he rides Orchestra but my real
each way fancy now that he has been supplemented is Romsdal - I hope we see
the New Approach colours winning the Derby again.
