Would love to see the following years King George where Anaglogs Daughter set such a ferocoius gallop that he was almost a fence clear at one stage, and those top class front runners Tied Cottage & Diamond Edge could not match him. Also a dramatic end to the race.

I remember that Wincanton Boxing Day meeting, was broadcast on the beeb for a few years back in the day. I used to like watching it, as it was the only meeting Wincanton had televised then.

Ah, brings back my childhood memories. Boxing Day - BBC Racing Kempton Park & Wincanton racing. Is it true BBC only broadcast Wincanton on Boxing Day, as it was the nearest to Swindon for Julian Wilson to move his lazy upper class ass to a racecourse to broadcast to the great unwashed during a public holiday !

Also a brief mention for Carrigeen Hill, another one of early my favourites. Prolific early season fast ground winner in the late 70s/early 80s. Won 9 times by mid-November in the 1978-79 season, including 3 races at Cheltenham. Bit out of his depth here but a good horse on his day.

Come on Bucket! The winner was one of my favourites and I was lucky enough to see him in the flesh at Haydock at the very end of his career. Quality right the was through the field. First four all Gold Cup-winning standard. Some very good chasers like Bachelor's Hall, Gaffer, Strombolus etc tailed off or pulled up before the straight.

Was I'm A Driver killed in a racecourse fall? I'm sure his career was cut short at an early age.

Great upload, so many famous names here. Tied Cottage - one of my faves from when I started to follow NH racing; Border Incident - such a difficult horse to train, who knows how good he could have been; Jack of Trumps - another enigma, so much talent, tragically killed at the 1981 Grand National meeting; Grand Canyon - dual Colonial Cup winner and also successful over hurdles in France. Would love to see, if you have them, some Scottish, Welsh and Irish Nationals from the 80s.

Thanks for uploading that, don't think I've ever seen it. Interesting to hear Sir Peter commentating on a race I've always associated with commercial TV.

Thanks - your updates are so good and I am very grateful to see them as we are probably of the same vintage. The one I would love to see is I'm A Driver who was a 2 miler with Dickinson I think. My memory is that he always went off really hard and I saw him win a few but can't remember how classy he was or what happened to him.

Thanks for that - I had forgotten that. Border Incident was one of my favourites. I think he had a 2 year lay off just after this from memory.
