last Scottish trained festival winner I think, Tartan Tailor, Scottish owned was I think trained at Greystoke in Cumbria, though if he was trained by Len Lungo who also trained for the owner, then he was from Carrutherstown near Annan in Scotland
He was actually trained by Scottish-based John Wilson, though Chris Grant did ride a lot for Arthur Stephenson. In his younger days on the flat he was trained by Guy Harwood
I was there this day, if I remember rightly Harry Hastings was trained by Arthur Stephenson and Chris Grant in the saddle , Im sure his starting price was 14/1. Had a score on him so £300 was a lot of dough in 1985. What a memory !
