| Race Synopsis: Cosmic Endeavour was smartly away from her inside barrier (1) and soon drove through to retain the lead. She then settled nicely before drawing clear at the 300m. She still held a good break at the 100m and then fought back well to win by half a length. Catkins was fourth, one out and one back, was asked to improve on straightening, took a little while to wind up before going to third at the 100m. She then rallied with a late run for second, in a typically honest performance. Criterion was slowly away then improved along the rails to settle in fifth place. He stuck to the rails on turning for home and continued to battle on in good style to finish third, beaten just over a length, in a very promising first-up effort. Hooked, who was also resuming, raced behind the leader to the home turn and held on nicely for (1.5 lengths) fourth. Sacred Falls was second last in the eight-horse field to the home turn and made ground for fifth, beaten just under three lengths, in a sound first-up run. | |
