Clarcam took advantage of Supreme Novice winner Vautour's bad jumping error in this Grade 1 at Leopardstown on Boxing Day/St. Stephen's Day. However, all credit is due to the Gordon Elliott trained gelding who beat a good field by 17 lengths.

It doesn't jump great anyway. I doubt he would have won regardless. Clarcam is no mug. Problem is every mullins horse is overhyped n go off at ridiculous prices. I'm not saying vatour won't bounce back but I've seen both his chase outings n I'm far from impressed. The ground clearly had an effect on him as he was paddling at the end but he was so far behind n struggling to get past ted veale you have to question how good he really is.

You cannot blame Vautour's mistake at the fifth last for costing him the race. Had every chance 3 out, but patently outstayed by the winner and the second. Not as good as the Mullins team thought by the looks of it......
