Variety Club caught a big break from a terrible post position draw when
Capital Attraction blew the start, but props to jockey Anton Marcus for
taking full advantage of that and slotting Variety Club right over to the
rail after he'd broken really well. Bottom line was Soft Falling Rain had
every chance to run Variety Club down through the stretch and simply wasn't
good enough on this day, but he also ran another fantastic race in the
Godolphin Mile again. Terrific effort as well from the filly Flotilla
flying home late for 3rd and nearly depriving Soft Falling Rain of
finishing 2nd. Next stop for Variety Club, Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong
for the G1 Champions Mile in early May, a race that's on the same card with
the G1 Audemars Piguet QE II Cup.
